田字草は花勝見として万葉集にも歌われる、古くからあるモチーフです。
勝見草に引き付けて、縁起を担いだり尚武の文様として用いられてきました。
また、歌舞伎役者の坂東玉三郎の定紋として田字草が用いられています。
アクリル台に京蒔絵の職人が簡易蒔絵の手法で文様を施しています。
縁起物として手軽に身に着けていただきたい簪です。

Denjisō is an ancient motif, appearing in the Man’yōshū, Japan’s oldest anthology of waka poetry, under the name hanakatsumi.
Associated with katsumi-gusa, it has long been used as an auspicious design, and also as a motif evoking martial virtue and good fortune. Denjisō is also known as the formal crest of the kabuki actor Bandō Tamasaburō.
The design is applied to an acrylic base by a Kyoto maki-e artisan using a simplified maki-e technique.
This is an easy-to-wear hairpin for those who wish to carry a small auspicious charm with them.
